| The current health score and charging cycles of my iPad mini |
I notice in my blog stats that a lot of page views are coming from battery related articles for iOS devices one of which is for the application Battery Doctor. Battery Doctor is a nice free application for monitoring the charging cycle of your device. Last year, I did a review of Battery Doctor (article here) for the iPhone and iPod Touch and for this post I will do a review of Battery Doctor HD for the iPad and iPad mini.

Battery Doctor HD is pretty much like its iPhone version but its maximised for the larger screen of the iPad. The application has five tabs for showing the status of your battery, the charging cycles of your device, system information, tips and the processes running on your iPad. Now why would you want to have this application on your iPad? The answer is simple and just like in the iPhone, you want to at least keep track on how frequent you charge your iPad. You do not want to always drain your battery after bringing it to a full charge. The best practice in battery charging is to at least have a full cycle charge once a month and just perform a regular charge in between. Full cycle charge simply means draining your battery down to 20% then charging it straight without unplugging up to 100%. It's not that easy to monitor a full cycle charge and that where Battery Doctor comes to the picture. The application has a very nice way of monitoring and tracking while you are charging so that you do not overcharge your device. It also has an alert to inform you that charging has finished. Just ensure though that the application is open while charging or at least its running in the background.
This application is a nice addition for your iPad or iPad mini and very helpful for tracking your charging habits. My Macintosh and Me highly recommends it!
Pros: As mentioned with the iPhone version of this application, Battery Doctor functions as advertised. It has a nice UI and provides tips and information about your device.
Cons: It may sometimes show inaccurate information on how many times you charged in a day. I'm not sure what's causing it but the developers of the application can address it in an update.
Here are some more snapshots of the application. If you like Battery Doctor HD, you can download the application here.

| Some Battery Tips |

Battery doctor does help, I installed it on my iPhone 5S and it has extended battery life. However, the battery cannot afford to watch couples hours of movie and games. I had bought a portable charger named Kinkoo Infinite One. I found it works perfectly with real 8000 mAh capacity and rapid charging speed.
ReplyDeleteBattery doctor is an application to help in monitoring the health of your battery. It does not in any way increase the battery life of your device :) It still depends on how you use your iPhone. A battery pack or portable charger will definitely help you :)
