Steps on setting up your new iPad mini

So the iPad mini was just released officially here in the Philippines last December. The device is selling like hot pancakes and almost always sold out on any Apple reseller here. If you are fortunate enough to purchase one, good for you because its just one of the many beautiful Apple devices released last 2012. If you are new to Apple, this post will help you out in setting up your new iPad mini. In the past, you need to connect to your PC or Mac to use an Apple device but the release of iOS 5.0 changed it. It cut the cord on setting up your new device. The steps I'll be sharing here is also applicable for the latest iPhone and iPod Touch.

1. When you first open the iPad mini, you will be displayed with a welcome screen then choose a language of choice.

2. Then you are prompted to select a location. You can select Philippines from the list of choices.

3. You can also enable or disable location services.

4. Then you choose to set up the iPad mini as a new one, restore from an iCloud backup or restore from an iTunes backup. Setting up as new is the default choice but if you wish to restore from an iCloud backup, be sure that you are connected to a Wifi network. On the other hand, if you wish to restore from an iTunes backup, have your PC or Mac handy to get your files.

5. If you already have an Apple ID, you can login to it already or create one for free.

6. You can also start using iCloud for storing photos, calendar events, documents, mail, etc. to the cloud.

7. There you have it, you can now start using your iPad mini. Enjoy!
