Reading the book about Jony Ive

I was very fortunate to have an early copy of the book about Jonathan Ive. The book was released last November and written by Cult of Mac editor and publisher Leander Kahney. I bought the copy of the book here in the Philippines on my birthday. I really opted to go for a hardcopy to include it in my collection of books about Apple. This is the first time that a book was written about the Design Guru of Apple.

I really loved how Kahney wrote this book. A lot of effort has been made on this to make it the most comprehensive book yet about Ive, it was very well researched. I learned a lot on this book about Jony from his younger days, school work and how he eventually landed at Apple. The book has some pictures as well on what Jony has designed -- his early works and products at Apple. No one is perfect and the book has shown how Jony has learned from his missteps and created a signature for himself and Apple. It is a fascinating look at the creative genius behind Apple's great products. I am also very proud to learn that a Filipino was also included in Jony Ive's design team at Apple, his name is Calvin Seid. Calvin is another key member of the group in the mid-1990's. A native of Portland, Oregon, who graduated from San Jose State University in 1983 and worked for the design firms in Oregon and Silicon Valley after graduation. He joined the Apple IDg (Industrial Design Group) in 1993 to design and manage CPU projects. He died unexpectedly on April 6, 2007, of coronary artery diseases at the age of forty six. He was popular, and his death upset the team greatly (page 82 in the book).

We have read a lot about Steve Jobs and this book about Jony Ive is a must read, every Apple fan should have this! The book is available on iBooks or on your local bookstores.
