My first observation, which is very noticeable, is the improvement in battery life. Some 4S users may react on this but I really gained some battery improvement. I'm sharing a screenshot of the battery usage on my iPhone 4S. On the left is my iPhone on standby while I am sleeping. After more than 6 hours of standby, it just lost 1% battery life which is very different when I'm running iOS 5.0.1. It was actually 100% but when I took the screenshot it became 99%. On the other hand, the screenshot on the right showed how much my fully charged battery will last in a day. I did some online browsing via wifi and 3G here, text messaging and my favorite activity on an iOS device -- Games! It still has 14% battery life left after being on standby for 32 hours and using it for 7 hours. There's definite improvement because I don't get this type of performance prior to iOS 5.1

Look at the image of the speaker on the first track of the album -- that's definitely new

I think this is also different. Viewing the keyboard shortcuts changed after the update.
And here are additional things on the Touch Control on the Music Player and Personal Hotspot.
So for those who haven't updated their iOS devices to iOS 5.1, now's the right time to do so. You can check out my post when I updated my iPhone 4S to the latest software here. For some battery tips, check out my related post here.

This is the first time I saw the hand and "iMessage" looking touch controls. I think these are available for purchased songs in iTunes. It disappeared already though after showing once.
