Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2012

The stage has been set for Apple's annual Developer's Conference. WWDC 2012 is set to kickoff on Monday, June 11. A lot of rumors and speculations have spread like wildfire and I'd like to take part at it. Well here are the things that I think will be announced on the event.

a. iOS 6: This should be a no brainer. Every Developer's Conference has announced a new operating software for Apple's iOS devices, i.e. the iPhone, the iPad and the iPod Touch. What's interesting to note are the rumors about a newly designed user interface and the replacement of Google Maps. I think these are all very likely to happen. I hope the new release boosts battery life but not degrade my iPhone's performance.

b. OS X 10.8: Also known as Mountain Lion. Last February 2012, Apple provided a sneak peak of the latest iteration of the Mac OS. To the surprise of many, no conference was held for a demo of the OS. Even rumors were caught off guard with this announcement. I think Apple will formally touch on this matter in WWDC on Monday. Like the iOS, I hope Mountain Lion improves the speed and performance of my Mac. I noticed that Lion increased my boot time compared to when I was in Snow Leopard.

c. New Macs: There are still no new Macs announced this year which usually happens around the first quarter until around April. The new Macs are expected to take the design queue of the Macbook Air which is thinner, lighter, no optical drive, no super drive and depends on flash for instant on like the iPad. Will it have a Retina display? I don't think so! Why? Because I just think it's not practical to have it on a Mac. Imagine an iMac having a Retina display, that's just too costly.

Apple is pretty loaded on Monday. There are a lot of things to expect and technology enthusiasts are all set to cover the event. There's nothing like an Apple conference. Let's all wait and see what the company from Cupertino has in store for us.
