iOS application updates for week ending February 22

A couple of notable application updates have been released this week. The applications below are currently installed on my iPhone. Check out these updates and open the App Store to download yours as well.

From top left, clockwise: Flickr, Pudding Monsters,
Cobook Contacts and Kingdoms & Lords
a. Flickr (free) - Flickr has been getting attention lately after Instagram's updated and controversial terms of use which took effect last January 19. The current update to Flickr include the following:

     - faster uploading

     - easily save photos from your Flickr photostream to your camera roll
     - quickly tag your contacts in photo comments and description by simple typing @screename
     - get notified when your contacts mention you
     - higher resolution photo display in lightbox view so your photos look even more stunning
     - you can now take photos using your iPhone's volume up button

b. Cobook Contacts (free) - Been using Cobook since I've read an article about it last year. This is a good replacement for the default Contacts application because it also integrates Facebook and Twitter contact information. I've been using these two social network applications so I'm really benefiting from using Cobook. The current update to the application include:

     - Google Maps app support

     - phone number formatting can now be switched on/off via settings
     - the application can now properly dial phone extensions
     - improved handling of blank lines in notes
     - timezone improvements for Canada, Australia and China

Cobook currently boasts of having passed the 500,000 downloads mark. They are also planning to release awesome stuffs to the application soon.

c. Pudding Monsters ($0.99) - The current update to this fun game adds 25 levels with new gameplay elements as well. The game is now supporting iCloud which allows you to sync game progress across all your iOS devices.

d. Kingdoms & Lords (free) - This is a nice simulation game from Gameloft and the current update adds new units (Desert Rogues), new battlefields and a new guild system. The new guild system allows you to construct a guild hall to team up with friends and create a mighty alliance.
