| My Macbook Pro |
I received a call last Monday, June 3, that my Macbook Pro has been fixed already. The airport card has been replaced and the boot issue has been fixed as well. It was only the second week since my Macbook had the problem. On my third post of this series, I mentioned that it might take 1 to 2 months to at least wait for the airport card that will be delivered from Singapore. My uncle mentioned that its quite long and suggested that I get my Macbook from Digital Hub until the replacement airport card arrives. I talked to Digital Hub about it and they persuaded me to wait for another week in case it arrives early. They mentioned that once it arrives, it needs to be placed in the Macbook or else it will be returned because of a 2-day return policy. I did not know that so I still left my Macbook to them. I was not available on a weekday so I told them that I'll pickup my Mac on a weekend instead.
June 8, Saturday. I went to Digital Hub today to pickup my Macbook. They gave the Macbook to me and when I checked, the same problem is still there. I told them about it and they brought the Macbook again inside for the technician to check. I kept my cool about it because I got confirmation that its working already. Again, the attendant came back to me and this time the Macbook has an external drive plugged to it. He mentioned that the OS seems to have a problem and the airport card is working on Snow Leopard, 10.6.8, which is the last version of that OS. My Macbook is running Mountain Lion, 10.8.3. I thought, why didn't Digital Hub tested my Macbook on the OS version running on my Macbook. I then thought, would the actual Apple stores give this kind of experience to their customers? I don't know but I doubt it, they'll definitely provide the great experience to their customers. So, I just asked some more questions and requested to have my Macbook cleaned instead. If the airport card is already working, its just a matter of restoring from a Time Machine backup when the wifi was working.
So I went home dissatisfied since the service is not complete. If you're not knowledgeable enough with these devices, you'll have a hard time determining what to do next. In my case, I'll do a restore first from my Time Machine backup. If it still does not work, I'll format my hard disk to Snow Leopard and start from there. My Macbook was bought with 10.6.3 installed. Fortunately, after more than hour of restoring, the wifi on my Macbook is finally working. I am very happy! My Apple devices are complete again -- my iPhone, iPad mini and my Macbook Pro.
I hope my posts will help other Macintosh users who will encounter the same problems I had. You can check out again the posts below on what I did.

Finally, here are some key points that every Mac owner should put into mind, they are very helpful.
1. Buy an Apple Care for your Mac. I really think this is a must since it provides peace of mind for the next two years after the first year warranty of your Mac expires. You don't have an idea what will break in your Mac. It is a global warranty and you can just bring your Mac on any Apple Store or reseller which honors it.
2. Perform a Time Machine backup frequently and regularly. This saved me a lot. Apple really did a great job on this when it was introduced in Leopard.
3. Do some research online and don't panic when something wrong happens on your Mac. You'll be surprised with the number of articles for problems on Apple devices. I shared helpful articles specific to this issue on my first post for the series.
