Product review: JCPAL iGuard for your iPad mini 2-in-1 set

A few months back, I wrote an article for the case I bought for my iPad mini. It's a case from Capdase with a silicone back cover and sleeve. It has been my protector for my iPad mini because I don't want to add too much bulk on the device. It was only just now that I purchased a new protector for my iPad mini.

I've been looking for a back protector on my iPad mini for a while now. I'd like something similar to a screen protector and those that are on iPhones. Good thing I read a post in PhilMUG about a new product available in Beyond The Box (BTB). BTB is one of the Apple resellers here in the country. The product I'm talking about is JCPAL's iGuard.

The iGuard contains only two items, protectors for the screen and back of the iPad mini. The screen protector is a clear matte film similar to other available screen protectors. The back protector is black or gray depending on the color of the iPad mini you own. Its the first time I saw such product offered here. I purchased it right away and asked the help of the store crew in BTB to place it on my iPad mini. The screen protector is easy to install but the back protector needs to be exact. It has a place for the Apple logo and the edges taper to the sides of the iPad mini. The back protector placed on my iPad mini is a little off actually but I'm fine with it. What I got worried about though is the stickiness of the back protector. I actually got paranoid about it. I then thought placing the extra Apple logo sticker to my external HD to check if it will leave sticky residue on it. After a week, I tried removing the sticker and it did not leave any sticky residue. Its very clean, the product is really good! If you actually look at its site, their product for the new iPad says "It is made of imported high-quality environmental friendly material and can guarantee no residual glue for as long as 7 years." I then saw that they participated at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this year.

If you want a "naked" iPad mini, this product will suit your needs. Here are some snapshots of the product on my device.

  1. What about iCurve? Is JCPAL's product. I don't know if magnet could damage my iPad mini, do you?

    1. I haven't tried iCurve since I don't own an iPad. It looks like the iGuard so I guess it's great as well. For the magnet, the "sides" of the Smart Cover are made of it that's why it attaches correctly to the iPad or iPad mini so I guess it shouldn't damage your Apple device.
