iOS App Review: Asphalt 6: Adrenaline

I just love racing games on my iPod Touch, feels like I'm actually steering the wheel. A few months back I shared my thoughts on EA Sports Need For Speed Hot Pursuit. For this post, I'll share my insights about Gameloft's Asphalt 6: Adrenaline.

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline was a free download when I got it. It has three games modes: Career, Free Race and Multiplayer. I played the Free Race at the start to get a grasp of the race controls. I must say it's a little difficult at first but you'll get used to it if you play the game a number of times. You level up thru the game by gathering enough stars every race. You get to unlock maps, cars and leagues as you get stars and gather money in the race. What's cool also is you get to customize the cars (aside from color) with decals and control its upgrade: from the engine, to handling and Nitro. This is not available in Need For Speed Hot Pursuit.

I must say it's a great racing game after Need For Speed Hot Pursuit. Hot Pursuit is still number one for me -- aside from gameplay and cool cars, it has great controls. Asphalt 6 has still some minor glitches. One good example is when I'm making a sharp turn along corners. Yes the cars are drifting but it does not change directions right away. The car still moves forward but you are either facing to the left or to the right. You'll know what I mean when you play the game. Maybe Gameloft can fix this with an update. But all in all, it's a great racing game, way better than EA's Shift 2 Unleashed. I still have a long way to go in Asphalt 6, I just unlocked the Platinum league and all my performance parts are level 1. Here's the link to Gameloft's Asphalt 6: Adrenaline.
