I was supposed to post this last week but it seemed not appropriate after Steve Jobs death last Thursday. The Apple "Let's Talk iPhone" Event just concluded last Wednesday and among the many great announcements that happened, one thing stood out for me — the update to the iPod Nano. Yes the form factor is still the same but the new software update to the Nano makes the tiny music player really interesting.

The 100 MB+ software update includes 16 more additional clock faces to the Nano making it a slick watch and music player in one. Aside from the cool clock faces, you now have the option to enlarge the icons on the Nano's home screen. The larger icons can be swiped like the cover flow in iTunes to go from one application to another. This is great as it maximizes the small screen of the device. Also, if you want to hide some of the applications, for example your podcasts and photos, this can easily be performed by a toggle found in the Settings. Everything else is pretty much the same. If you choose to switch to the smaller icons, the icons can still be re-arranged whatever you choose. It's not available though when the icons are enlarged.

After the software update, I got interested again in using my iPod Nano. I'm now looking for a cool wrist band -- a Lunatik -- to turn my Nano into a watch. It brought back the fun again to the Nano. It's really interesting how this tiny device could evolve in the future.
To download the software update, just plug your iPod Nano to iTunes and click on Update. Here are some screenshots of my Nano after the update.
Here are some of the new clock faces too:

I absolutely respect and appreciate your point on each and every object.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment Sir ackent.
DeleteI, for one, was extremely cheerful to module my Nano the previous evening and see that overhaul holding up for it. It's an extraordinary quality of the entire iOS/iPod gadgetverse that product overhauls keep on improving and finish every gadget. Nobody else deals with that. Furthermore its the reason I've remain faithful to Apple all through its a truly more rough and indeterminate street with whatever available maker.Have a good day.
