iOS App Review: Video Downloader & Manager

This was the first time I saw an application capable of downloading videos on any website right on your iOS device. I used to download YouTube videos using the site keepvid.com, but with Video Downloader & Manager, I can do it now directly on my iPhone 4S. This is a new application I just downloaded from the iTunes Store last week.

Upon opening the application, you see four tabs at the bottom: Browser, Downloads, Videos and Settings. You can access your favorite video sites like YouTube and Vimeo on the Browser tab. Once you have the video that you want you can stream on it already, add a bookmark or save the video. Here are some snapshots I took of the application while looking for some videos of Steve Jobs.

Add a bookmark or save your favorite video

Aside from streaming online, you can also save a copy of the video. So instead of adding a bookmark on the video you can download it directly in the application by touching the Save Video. Just switch to the Downloads tab to check on the status of the download. Once finished, the video is saved in the Videos tab. You can also rename the video just by holding it.

Lastly, the Settings tab allow you to enable some options available on the application like placing a password or saving the video from the application to your Mac or PC.

Enable passcode to restrict access to the application

Enable Backup Data to save the videos you've downloaded to either your Mac or PC
