iOS App Review: Mini Motor Racing

I found this application in the Staff picks on the iTunes App Store. Aside from being a racing game, it has cool mini cars to use for driving. I just love racing games and having cool cars is such a plus for me. The game is a 150 MB download and I must say it's worth the $1.99 I paid for it.

I thought it was difficult to control the game. First, because of the different perspective. You are shown a top view of the map and cars. It's not the usual racing where you are like sitting on the driver's seat. Second would be the way how you steer the car. Although it autos accelerates, the default control for the car is a steering wheel positioned at the lower left portion of the screen. I must say the controls are very good so the car is handled very efficiently. It might be disadvantageous for left handed people where you might prefer to steer the car on the lower right. But I assume you can get use to the type of control this game has.

After the controls, next to review would be the graphics. The graphics are also stunning. The dust are shown in detail and the skidding tires are also shown in detail for every turn that the car makes. Headlights as well as the different weather conditions are displayed properly.

Of course the main objective of the game is to always win the race. Your ranking in the races will win you cash. The cash you earn can be used for upgrading Handling, Nitro, Acceleration and Top Speed. This will help in beating the other computer cars in the game. Aside from playing against the computer, you can also play multiplayer or thru Game Center. I haven't tried this yet though.

The developers really did a great effort in building such a fun racing game. If you don't mind spending $1.99 and just love to race like me, then download this game now. Mini Motor is highly recommended.
